On September 29th, a significant milestone was achieved as the Closure Event of the MEDI-THEFT project took place in the magnificent setting of the Nobile Collegio Chimico e Farmaceutico in Rome. This event marked the culmination of two years of dedicated work and collaboration of the Consortium.
The closing event was an exceptional moment to showcase the remarkable results achieved during the project’s life. Notably, it raises discussions on the critical issue of medicine-related crimes, considering both national and international perspectives. Bringing together more than 80 participants, both in-person and online, the Closure Event provided a unique opportunity for representatives from the public and private sectors involved in the pharmaceutical industry to discuss the outcomes of the project and explore future perspectives.
The event’s agenda was packed with sessions dedicated to presenting the MEDI-THEFT project’s results, highlighting the contributions made by the Consortium’s partners. Additionally, Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato Italiano delivered a comprehensive demonstration with a live demo of the MEDI-THEFT intelligence-based platform, highlighting the main features.
The Closure Event of the MEDI-THEFT project gathered together stakeholders from different sectors including partners of the MEDI-THEFT Consortium, pharmaceutical companies, software companies, delegates from EU and non-EU regulatory agencies, representatives of European authorities such as OLAF and the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines, as well as representatives from law enforcement agencies, were present.
With the remarkable achievements of the project and the commitment displayed by all participants, the fight against organized theft of medicines has received a significant push. Together, these efforts pave the way for a safer future in the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring that medicines are distributed safely and effectively to those in need.
