On the 29th and 30th March 2022<\/strong> AIFA (Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco – Italian Medicines Agency), represented by Dr. Domenico Di Giorgio, presented MEDI-THEFT at the CMED (Committee of Experts on Minimising Public Health Risks Posed by Falsification of Medical Products and Similar Crimes)<\/strong> meeting, and to the Expert Group on Safety Features, SANTE \u2013 DG Health and Food Safety<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The CMED meeting, held on the 29th March, focused on the falsification of medical products and the risk this poses on healthcare<\/strong>. CMED has been giving priority to projects concerning best practices and trainings, risk communication, building and maintaining knowledge, promoting a network of (Single) Points of Contact (SPOCs) and also concerning the implementation and monitoring of the Council of Europe Convention on counterfeit medical products and similar crimes.<\/p>\n On the other hand, the Expert Group on Safety Features, held on the 30th March, provided a forum to consult experts from the Member States\u2019 national competent authorities of Member States<\/strong>, and it was a unique chance to present the project to EU experts of traceability.<\/p>\n Both meetings were excellent occasions to present MEDI-THEFT objectives and program<\/strong>, to foster discussions and present how the project can successfully contribute to improving the safety of EU healthcare.<\/p>\n MEDI-THEFT aims at fighting illicit med trafficking via a data platform shared by European Law Enforcement Agencies and public and private European actors.<\/p>\n This EC funded project led by AIFA will run for 24 months and is participated by Fondazione SAFE, Transcrime \u2013 the Joint Research Center and spinoff of Universit\u00e0 Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Istituto Poligrafico and Zecca dello Stato, AME (Affordable Medicines Europe), ALIMS (Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of Serbia ), CInMeD (independent national drug regulatory authority) and Italian Arma dei Carabinieri.<\/p>\n Furthermore, MEDI-THEFT also produced a short, introductory video<\/strong> to its core objectives and work packages to delineate the foreseen objectives and its meaningful impact: watch it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" On the 29th and 30th March 2022 AIFA (Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco – Italian Medicines Agency), represented by Dr. Domenico Di Giorgio, presented MEDI-THEFT at the CMED (Committee of Experts on Minimising Public Health Risks Posed by Falsification of Medical Products and Similar Crimes) meeting, and to the Expert Group on Safety Features, SANTE \u2013…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":9431,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[20],"tags":[],"yoast_head":"\n
