Federico Benolli, Fondazione SAFE’s Senior Associate, participated as panellist during the strategic discussion about “Market uptake of innovation stemming from research projects” lead by CERIS in the context of Fight Against Crime and Terrorism (FCT) and Resilient Infrastructure (INFRA), and endorsed by DG Home, 26-27 September 2022.

During the Panel session, the effective approach of TRANSTUN project was highlighted. The TRANSTUN initiative is a public-private partnership with the aim of reducing CBRN risks in cross-border tunnels. TRANSTUN’s success represents an excellent example of best practices in the CBRN risk management for Critical Infrastructure Protection.

Moreover, a significant mention was the just started EMERITUS project, funded under the Horizon Europe Programme (FCT-01-09 topic), which focuses on the development, testing, and validation of an innovative technological solution to support transnational investigations against environmental crimes.

Lastly, the goal of the Panel – the reduction of the distance between research and the market – was tackled by fostering the exploitation of multi-modal facilities for the testing and validation of products produced by research, such as the former military base Calvarina that has been managed by SAFE since 2021.

SAFE is proud of its contribution to the CERIS annual event and we take this chance to thanks the organisers for the invitation to such an outstanding event.
