The beautiful frame of the small medieval village of Soave (Verona) – where SAFE premises are located – hosted the kick-off event of the EU-funded RESIST project, on November 12th-14th. During this opening event, Italian and Romanian counterparts active in the prevention and response to CBRN events in Critical Infrastructures gathered to agree on a common plan for project effective implementation.
As Leader of the consortium, SAFE invited all project partners to meet and share views on the next steps of project implementation, agreeing on division of tasks, responsibilities and schedule of activities to ensure a sound and coordinated intervention. RESIST project, in its 24 months of duration with a budget of 1.2M€, will create a standardised CBRN training and equipment “package” for operators of critical infrastructures, and will test it in nine large infrastructures in Italy and Romania.
The event benefited from the active participation of representatives of project partners (IAI, University of Tor Vergata, Romanian Cluster PROECO, Italian Joint CBRN School under the Ministry of Defence, Italian Fire Brigade, ENEA) and supporting partners (Italian Civil Protection).
On Day 1, each partner presented its proposed contribution to the project, with a focus on coordination of technical Work Packages and proposed calendar of activities for joint planning. In particular, each partner discussed technical features, as well as financial and administrative planning, internal consortium rules and monitoring tools.
Day 2 was organized into two parallel session; one dedicated to involvement of Critical Infrastructures in Romania and another focussed on practical planning of training activities foreseen to take place in 2020 in Rieti at the Joint CBRN School.
More news and information on project activities will be shared in the coming months.
