OPFA WASTE PROJECT – FUNDING SCHEME FOR LEAs KICKS OFF AS OF FEBRUARY 1!

On the 1st of February 2021 the OPFA WASTE Project launches the Operational Facility Action Phase!

Starting from the 1^st of February 2021, for a limited period of time, eligible Law Enforcement Agencies operating against environmental criminality are encouraged to apply for funding as an opportunity to improve networking among police officers, enhance the exchange of sensitive information, increase technical skills or lease specialized equipment, in the context of Illicit Waste Trafficking criminal investigations. The Operational Facility is active thanks to the direct support of SAFE (Security and Freedom for Europe) and the specialized support of Europol to environmental crime investigations.

A cycle of meetings engaging practitioners from EU MS Law Enforcement Agencies took place from the 26^th to the 29^th of January, to the aim of presenting the financial scheme and its funding options. The success of the launching events was determined by the active participation of police officers from several EU countries.
