From September 17 to 19, 2024, the Balkan Asset Management Interagency Network (BAMIN) held its 9th Annual General Meeting and Workshop in North Macedonia, bringing together asset management practitioners from 24 national offices across the world. The event, hosted by the North Macedonian Agency for Management of Seized and Confiscated Property, was co-organized by the BAMIN Secretariat, managed by Fondazione SAFE, and supported by the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

A central focus of the meeting was the management of emerging asset classes, particularly cryptocurrencies. This emphasis reflects BAMIN’s commitment to staying at the forefront of asset management trends.

One of the standout features of the event was a comprehensive two-day training on the Seizure and Management of Crypto Assets, a key priority in the field of Asset Management. The training follows SAFE’s commitment in being at the forefront against evolutionary forms of crime and tools used by criminal organisation, with the training delivered by Asset Reality ensuring to provide knowledge and innovative solutions in asset management. The training offered participants crucial insights into the legal frameworks, investigative techniques, and strategies for seizing and managing digital currencies—a rising challenge in financial crime.

Through its co-organization of BAMIN’s Annual General Meeting and its delivery of specialized training, Fondazione SAFE reinforced its commitment to improve cross-border and interagency cooperation in asset management and equipping professionals with the tools needed to confront the evolving challenges of financial crime in the digital age.
