SAFE President speaker at the 13th meeting of the Community of Users on Safe, Secure and Resilient society, in Brussels.
SAFE President has been invited to the 13th CoU event, as a speaker
for the Civil-Military and International cooperation panel, joined by UE Commission (DG HOME, DG ECHO e DG DEVCO), Belgium Royal Military Academy, Belgium Federal Crisis Centre , and Joint CBRN Czech Republic Defence Centre of Excellence .
On the agenda, the welcome address by Philippe Quevauviller (DG HOME), who will intervene in the Thematic Group 2 in the CoU and H2020 context. Philippe is Research Programming and Policy Officer at the Secure Societies Programme (DG HOME) in charge of the Disaster Resilient Societies topic and of the Community of Users on Secure, Safe and Resilient Societies.
Andrea will present in particular the features of the EU Technical Assistance project on CBRN risks mitigation in Lebanon, outlining its innovative approach which combines one civilian training component and one military training component with a set of joint strategic (i.e. SOPs and operational guidelines) and testing activirties (i.e. TTX and real-life exercises).
Andrea is the Team Leader of the 3.5M€ EU-funded project supporting the upgrading of CBRN response capacities in Lebanon. He has a background in security, having implemented and supervised large donor-funded initiatives in Western Balkans and Middle East. Since March 2019 he is the president of SAFE which, as part of the Italian CBRN P3 cluster, focusses on the implementation of CBRNe and SSR projects in Europe and neighbouring countries. The Lebanese project he coordinates represents an innovative instrument to align civilian and military response capacities, embedding capacity building, mentoring, supply of equipment and definition of operational guidelines for all security agencies in Lebanon, aligning military and civilian competences while leveraging their respective areas of specialization.
