The EU-funded project RUNNER, “dRoneUnit Network agaiNst Environmental cRimes “, financed by the European Anti-Fraud Office, OLAF and awarded to SAFE Foundation, aims at promoting and encouraging the exchange of information between local and national Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs).
The project seeks to scale up investigative methodologies against environmental offenders and developing solid networks between LEAs. The project will leverage the DronEUnit network and the EU-funded project OPFA-WASTE to create operational synergies and a high-level platform for practitioners.
SAFE Foundation is in charge with the implementation of a three-day workshop, to be held in December 2021, and the drafting of Operational Guidelines on good practices for integration of drones to support IWT prevention and investigation activities.
In this context, a team of experts guided by a scientific coordinator will be selected and entrusted with the creation of Operational Guidelines. The guidelines will build on available documents (i.e. Early Warning Checklist on IWT developed by the EU-funded project TECUM and well as internal procedures of national authorities in the various EU Member States, integrated with real-life experiences shared by participants to the December Workshop.
The short-term assignment will require each expert to be hired by SAFE Foundation under the RUNNER Project as an independent consultant (no conflict of interest should exist with own employer) for a limited number of days per month, over the time frame of approximately 3 months, starting from mid-October.
