Despite the many challenges currently striking Lebanon, a new training session was completed within the EU CoE Project 73 in Lebanon. The team has implemented a new training on CBRN protection for the Governmental Guards and the Prime Minister Protection team further strengthening the capacity to protect the Chain of Command in case of an emergency. The main focus of the training was on Radiological protection!
Furthermore, in light of the COVID19 emergency in Lebanon, SAFE is providing additional support through a set of new activities aiming at enhancing the capacity of the Lebanese authorities to respond to the COVID19 emergency. Since March 2020, the project provided Strategic Level support to the key stakeholders in Lebanon let alone delivered protection, detection, and sampling material.
A crucial activity has begun last week consisting of an assessment of 12 Lebanese hospitals with the aim of testing the preparedness and ensuring that the appropriate measures are undertaken in the management of the emergency. The outcome of the assessment will be a Strategic Plan to set the basis for the definition and implementation of an ad-hoc training aimed at fulfilling existing gaps and needs.
