SAFE, as partner of the consortium led by the Center for the Study of Democracy and Governance (Albania) has been awarded the project Baseline Assessment of the Albanian Intersectoral Strategy on Countering Organized Crime 2013-2020”, funded by the Dutch Embassy in Tirana.

As provided in the Government Decision on the approval of the National Plan for European Integration 2018-2020, the Intersectoral Strategy on Combating Organized Crime, Trafficking and Terrorism (ISCOC) is the key national strategic document with regard to fighting against organized crime. 

With the aim of contribute to fighting organised crime in Albania, SAFE will support the Albanian government in the process of the review and drafting of the next ISCOC (2021-2026). The project will kick-off in September 2019 and will last for a total of 12 months.

The expected outcome of the project as a whole is enhanced capabilities of the organizations, individuals and relevant Albanian government structures to monitor and review the upcoming ISCOC and to assess its vulnerabilities. To produce a substantial long lasting impact, the project aims to involve civil society, fostering its capacities and role in the monitoring and evaluation of counter organized-crime policy.
